Friends of Theatre Knights is a family and community support organization for the arts at Manchester High School West. Its mission is to inspire, encourage interest in, and raise funds for support of the arts and the improvement of the arts facilities at Manchester West. Members of Friends include family and friends of arts students at West as well as community leaders and businesses. Past Friends of Theatre Knights accomplishments include a state-of-the-art lighting and sound system, storage space for costumes. materials and supplies, and personnel support at Regional and State level drama festivals. Friends was also instrumental in the complete renovation and restoration of the Auditorium, which is the principal performance space for all the arts at West, as well as a variety of student achievement and recognition gatherings, including academic and scholarship awards and National Honor Society inductions. Short term goals and activities are overseen by the Friends of Theatre Knights Steering Committee, which meets the second Wednesday of every month in the Chorus Room behind the Robert A Baines Auditorium. Anyone may attend these meetings, which are posted on the Theatre Knights web page, and all are welcome. This year Friends' goals are to assist Theatre Knights in hosting a New Hampshire Educational Theatre Guild's annual Regional Drama Festival, and sponsor the International Thespian Society's annual Awards and Induction Banquet in May and assist in the raising of funds for our students to travel to and perform at the International Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland in August, 2009. Friends of Theatre Knights gladly welcome and encourage anyone with an interest in improving and maintaining the high standards for the performing arts at Manchester High School West. One need not attend Steering Committee meetings to participate or contribute. Please contact any of the Friends of Theatre Knights Board of Directors below to ask how you can do your part. Every little bit helps, but it starts with a call or an email from you. If you would like to attend a Friends of Theatre Knights Steering Committee meeting, the group meets every second Wednesday of the month in the chorus room behind the Robert A Baines Auditorium at 9 Notre Dame Avenue in Manchester. All are welcome.
